Round 1/Phase 3/Day 1

Down another 1.0 lb. What a great day...I've had two glasses of fab champagne...my gift to me. Made a delish meatball soup (ate a mere 289 calories for lunch) and enjoyed a nosh on some fresh roasted chix. All good, but tomorrow's weigh-in will be the real proof!

Day 42 effective

Down another .6 lbs for a total of 25.3 lbs. lost to date. Well into day two of the last three days of weaning off the HCG and I. Am. Hungry! Also lost another 3.25" all around for a total of 36" lost to date. Not bad for 40+ days of work.

Anxious to move into the next phase...that occurs midday tomorrow...been reading up on how to work in new foods and such. Tomorrow's treat will be a glass of champagne...no doubt about it...and a little olive oil! Woo-hoo, she's gettin' crazy.

Thinking that perhaps during the three week stabilization phase I might still drop some more weight...that would be nice...still would like to hit the 60s. We'll see.

Need to get motivated...it's already 11:00 a.m. EST. YIKES!

Day 41...no HCG, still VLCD

Down .1 lbs. for a total of 24.7. At 172 even. Still want to hit the 60s...it would just be good for my psyche.

Had to buy new bras yesterday... Wow! What a difference that makes. Wrangling in the girls in is always a good thing.

Honey has the flu. He is bellowing for me!

Day 40 effective...stop HCG at noon!

Down 1.9 lbs. for a total of 24.6 lbs. lost. I'll take my last weigh-in figure as of Friday! Can't believe I've gone 40 days without a cocktail. With the exception of champagne, I'm really not interested in much else in regards to alcohol for the near future. We will see. My gal pal (who has been hugely supportive) assures me my "curious" (not to mention bored) palette will betray me...who knows.

Let's see, 72 last hours of the VLCD, then I up my caloric intake to 1350 or so...need to get the exact BMR on my last weigh-in day. Those cals need to be primarily protein and good carbs. No. Starches. Or. Sugars!

Still...I'm very pleased and still motivated. Primarily because of how this protocol is designed into phases. Makes goals manageble, gives great results and seems to effectively move the dieter into longterm life changes.

Of course, I'll keep you posted.

Day 39 effective

-.1 lbs. Amazing, considering I had an extra cracker and an extra fruit...I was very hungry for some reason.

Slowly working in exercise as I anticipate Phase 3...never my fave thing to do, but being down a few pounds is a big motivator. Considering how sedentary I normally am, working in the 10,000 steps a day is a good start...can't hurt, that's for sure.

Speaking of Phase 3...of course I'll be right in the midst of stabilization as Turkey Day rolls around...already trying to plan my menu. Will ask family what I'm supposed to bring, but will also bring some steamed broccoli with cheese, then pop under the broiler...I'm guessing my meal will be limited to turkey and my own veg only. Let's face it, squash, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and other delectables are right out.

I will, however, bring my own wine and enjoy a glass or two. Why not? It's all good!

That's it for today.

Day 38 effective...

Down .4 lbs. for a total of 22.6 lost. Really hoping to hit 25 lbs. by last-weigh-in-date-while-on-HCG. We'll see.

Truly looking forward to mixing up my food choices and working in some good fats. Alas, my kingdom for a walnut!

Need to jump start the work week.

Day 37 effective...

Still have my "friend," but happy to say I'm down 1.3 lbs. for a total of 22.5 lost to date. With day 40 looming, I'm hoping to hit a personal high (or low, as this case is) of 25 lbs. lost.

Then begins Phase 3 of HCG. Woo-hoo...cheese, dairy, nuts and olive oil... In moderation, but oh yeah! Bring it on!

HCG has been getting a lot of press here on the East Coast. Nutritionists poo-poo it ("500 calories a day is not ever healthy, etc."), but no one concretely says it's bad (such as longterm side effects) or cites specifics to that effect.

About the only minor issue I've had is some cramping in my hands. Nothing a good shake doesn't resolve, but that's it.

All in all, I can't say enough good stuff about HCG. I've actually stuck to a protocol because the one pitfall of all diets I've tried has been dealing with cravings and hunger...HCG took that out of the equation.

And as for the nutritionists...granted, you don't eat much, but who can fault you for eating small portions of all good food? And lastly, it's 40 days at the most. Nobody ever starved to death in 40 days!

Arrghh.
