And so the VLCD begins.

Feeling good. Need to head to the grocery store to stock up on supplies. Trying to think of a meal to make for dinner that meets my dietary needs, but satisfies my honey. Hmmmm.

I enjoyed Taco Spiced Beef & Onions for lunch.

3.5 oz 95% hamburger
1 medium onion, sliced
CMTaco Blend (see below)
Lettuce or cabbage (optional)

Heat dry skillet, add 1 tsp. water and onion. Salt and pepper. Saute until onion is soft (about 5 mins.), adding more water if onion begins to stick. Push onions off to sides, add meat, breaking up. Season to taste with CMTaco Blend (1/2 to 1 tsp.). Mix all together, adding water if sticking. Serve over shredded lettuce or cabbage.

CMTaco Blend
3 tbl. chili powder
2 tbl. cayenne powder
1 tbl. cumin
2 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. white pepper
1 tsp. dried cilantro

Mix together and store in air-tight jar.

Ahhhh, the joys of turning 50

I am officially well into my fabulous-50th year...and it's not pretty. Bad back, lackluster hair, dull skin and brittle nails...not to mention, I've been averaging 8-11lbs over my last weigh-in weight since I started on the hormone patch as a way of managing night sweats and hot flashes. I ask you...this is not the fabulousness I had in mind...just sayin'.

So, long way of saying...I'm baaaaaaccccck.

I'm going to do a short round and get these (plus a few other) lbs off...once and for all.

Once again, I intend to follow the original Simeon's Protocol. My only exceptions will be a little mixing of veg (say onion and spinach sauteed with chicken and Greek seasonings...McCormick makes a good one. Always check label to be certain no sugars are added...if so, consider making your own: 2 parts dried oregano, 1 part, each, dried spearmint; garlic flakes; onion flakes, sea salt). I know, a lot of sites offer more veg choices and the whole 1 egg/1 slice bacon option for breakfast. Don't. Fall. For. It. It's 6 weeks (if you do a long round) at most...buck up baby...you'll be happy in the end. Not only will you look and feel great, but you will also be really proud of yourself. I'm looking forward to partying and drinking only water with lemon. No hangovers. No bloating. Just lost weight and inches.

I will start loading over the coming weekend (March 10 & 11), then begin the VLCD on March 12. A 21-day round takes me to April 1, and three more week in phase 3 brings me to April 25.

Daily results will be posted here, as well as my assorted thoughts and ideas (not to mention the occasional rant).

Where have I been?

Jane Doh! here and...er, doh!

Still holding steady +/-2.5lbs from my last day weight. Those that know me get that I've been diligent (well, about my diet)...posting to my blog? Er, not so much.

Busy, natch, but just having a hard time actually getting on my computer...still all over the iPhone, I just hate being held captive in my dinky little office...but I digress.

I'd say, "I'll write more later," but we all know how that's been working for me.

So, for now, eat and be well...and, yes, in the unforgettable words of Ahnold, "I'll be baaaaack."

R2P2D11 -1.0 (-8.6 total since start weight)

That's what I'm talking about! Down another pound.

Doing okay this round. Though I don't recommend it, I'm enjoying the occasional beverage and, if I drink extra water (beyond my typical 100oz each day), I haven't gained. I'll stall...but no gain. I can only think that my metabolism has truly changed...and this thrills me to no end!

Now, that's not a license to start eating poorly again...but at least a couple of tortilla chips or a glass of champagne/skinny-rita will not croak me. Color. Me. Happy!

Looking forward to the weekend...no boat (too chilly), but I will have my honey around...so that truly is all that matters. Albondigas Soup (recipe below) is on the menu tonight.

Arghhhhh...if only mother nature would do her thing! Haven't "gone" (if you get my drift) in at least two full days...I. Am. Not. Comfortable.

Think I'll head to Char-bucks to do a little work and drink a giant, black java...that should move things along (one can only hope).

R2P2D7 -1.3 (-7.9 total since start weight)

I have the hungry horrors right now...argh. Just gnawed on a melba toast...and am powering back yet another 25oz of H2O...still feeling peckish, but I won't give in.

Will be having a late dinner with my honey tonight...baked chicken with herbs de provence and a chopped salad of toms, cukes, radishes, celery and onion. Looking forward to that...perhaps I should eat my second fruit to ward off any potential cheating. Hmmmm, that sounds like a good plan.

Pink lady here I come!
